Tour de Qatar

Only one week back and already I've had the opportunity to meet and hang out with some of the professional cyclists here for the tour of Qatar. My office mate is a huge cycling fan, and so she did all she could to stalk the cyclists for one week. She bribed me to go along to be one of the groupies. I must say, those young men look mighty fine in their cycling shorts. I'm now a huge fan!
Only in Doha would I be able to stand on the finish line at an international cycling tour - an event that would be packed if it were in a country that was not so "young and new" (Thanks Conman).

So, just a few pictures to sum up my week.

Hmmm... Normal country eh?
What's a normal country?
Qatar is normal... it's just new, and young, and vulnerable...

Well, really, what is normal - considering I write the blog with the main objective of entertaining and informing family and friends in the United States.

I suppose though as I try to build bridges and knock down walls, I should clarify.

Sometimes life in Qatar seems so surreal. Here is a nation trying to change its face but maintain its current identity. This occasionally becomes confusing - but at the same time encourages thought.

I love Qatar.
